Romulus Surprise Birthday

Encore was invited to the 33rd Romulus surprise birthday Linda at the city recreation center. Our Michigan DJ was the perfect fit for this event. It was Latino celebration so of course they had the Mexican music. I must say, we have entertained a lot of these type of celebrations. It is great because they are different from the traditional type of weddings we DJ every weekend. The music really varies from a handful of Salsa, Soca, and of course Reggaeton. I love mixing this music because it is so high energy. Most of the music stays around the same beats per minute, making it easy to go between genres.

What would be a Mexican fiesta without a live Mariachi Band to play during cocktail and dinner hours. I understand there were about 4 of them, and they dressed in full-attire. I know a couple of them took breaks, so there might have been more members in the band. If you look in the photo above, you will see an image of the main singer doing a duet. You can always tell who in the family is fluent, because they will join in on the songs and sing along. If you have never heard Guantanamera before, then you are missing out!

After the meal, we got right into our top request song list and opened the dance floor. Switching back and forth between the Mexican and American music. It was a smaller party, so the dance floor was not really big. However, I don’t think we could have fit another person on the dance floor, because it was packed. It came time for the cake cutting, and the Mariachi Band did an acoustic song as guests singed Happy Birthday to Linda. It was a really nice touch that the family and friends seemed to enjoy.

Back to the dancing, we started to mix in Cumbia’s which were special requested in the client planner. One popular Cumbia is by the late Selena Cruz – Baila Esta Cumbia. It is a slow dance, so it is easy for the older family to get up and start line dancing together.
