Are you looking for a live mixing format for your upcoming celebration? Want something different from last years Prom DJ? Southfield Christian High School asked those same questions and hired our company team here at Encore Party DJs. Their Plymouth Prom was held at the Inn of St. Johns banquet center. This venue is know for their beautiful wedding receptions and corporate galas. They have many banquet rooms available for you to choose from. They can accommodate receptions from 40 to 400 guests in attendance.
This high school prom was smaller and only about 200 students showed up. This was a very good turnout considering how large their class size was. As with most schools, they planned this prom on a Thursday to get a discounted rate from the Inn of St. Johns. However, a school dance can vary from a 50 people to over 2,000 people. Depending on how many people are in the room will determine just how much sound we bring. Whenever you go above 300 people, your event will require sound reinforcement. Our bundled package worked perfect for the space Southfield Christian High School had reserved.
Our lighting designers setup room LED fixtures around the perimeter of the space. If you look in the picture above, you will notice the pink uplighting in the background. Pink is a very bright color that looks great for lighting. We recommend highly saturated colors to make your walls pop. It made a nice backdrop in the pictures students took throughout the night. I have to say it really gave the WOW effect they were looking for!
The staff did a great job with the meal, and it was time to open up the dance floor. We got it going immediately right off the bat. Since the planning committee had client VIP access, they created a list with all the songs they wanted to hear months before the prom. I can say that their dance floor was packed from moment we picked up the tempo until the we played the senior song. My favorite part of the evening is when we played a techno set. We started with Zombie Nation, went into Sandstorm by Darude, which was then followed by Cascada – Every time We Touch. I included a video clip of it above that highlights a portion of the night during the live mixing. If you can’t tell the is a lot of energy in the room.
